In the digital age, your online presence is your business card, and it can be your ticket to charging what you're truly worth, even when economic tides are uncertain. A strong online presence establishes your credibility, builds trust, and showcases your expertise.
It allows you to connect with a wider audience and command higher prices for your services. When clients perceive your value through your online brand, they're more willing to invest in your services, regardless of economic fluctuations.
In the competitive world of mobile detailing, occasionally adjusting your price to accommodate a customer's budget can be a strategic move. However, when you find yourself in such a situation, don't let it be a one-sided compromise. Aim to extract value by requesting a positive review in return.
A satisfied customer's glowing testimonial can boost your online reputation and attract more clients, ultimately outweighing the temporary price adjustment.
Neglecting your online presence can spell doom for your mobile detailing business. Consumers rely heavily on the internet to research, compare, and make purchasing decisions.
If your online presence is lacking or non-existent, potential customers may not even consider your services. Competitors with a strong digital footprint can easily steal your market share.
Building strong customer relationships is the cornerstone of long-term success in the mobile detailing industry. Happy clients become loyal ones who not only return for your services but also become enthusiastic advocates for your business.
Word-of-mouth referrals and positive online reviews can significantly boost your reputation and bottom line. So your repeat business becomes an additional source of new customer sales.
By continually educating yourself on the latest industry trends, you gain a competitive edge and position your business for long-term success.
Mastering financial oversight is one crucial aspect of effective management. Understanding your financial statements, managing budgets, and optimizing expenses can lead to better financial health and increased profitability.
Moreover, honing your marketing expertise is paramount in attracting and retaining customers. Learning the ins and outs of effective digital marketing, customer engagement, and branding can give you a strong advantage in a competitive market.
Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, committing to ongoing self-education is a pathway to achieving your business's full potential. It empowers you to make informed decisions, adapt to changing market dynamics, and drive your mobile detailing venture toward sustainable growth.
It's hard because because everybody sees me do it and they want to do it for themselves.
So I've been trying to figure something out to where if they could dedicate a certain amount of time with me, then I'll try to help them start their own. And I've noticed that that's actually helped more because I’m helping somebody. And they're like, “Hey, I can give you six months,” and I don't mind creating competition because I have a shop.
I'm thinking about doing like a franchise and getting the vans going and that way I can keep them and train them and then throw them out there in the vans and just take a portion of profits, you know. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself because I already did that with this business because I got excited. I get excited and I just move, I just go and I didn't truly learn the ins and out of it. So I'm learning that right now. Business behind the scene.
So that's why people like to watch me because they're seeing somebody that doesn't know everything about business. I'm giving the cut and dry, like, “I don't know what I'm doing right now. What do you guys think?”
And not a lot of people want to show that when they're doing business. They start one day and then the next day teach it like they've learned it already. So that's the difference between me and them.
I'm thankful that I built my platform [online presence]. I've got the ratings, reviews and my Youtube channel. So I've actually been able to charge more whenever this happens. I just raise my prices and people pay it. I'm thankful my business is still growing even in the midst of the inflation, the gas and all that stuff. I'm thankful to keep going.
To be able to just charge more prices because your costs are going up, you got to look the part for one. You gotta invest in yourself. Have faith for one. Get your foundation.
For instance, on my reviews, I had another business, a vending business and I didn't do that for. I didn't build my online presence. So I was like, the next time I start a business, I'm gonna make sure I build that foundation.
So I started my Google before I even started the detailing business. Got my website, got my business cards, flyers, all that stuff, got the foundation. A lot of people like to skip a lot of steps. Me, I got that foundation right. And got my reviews and ratings from family members, friends. I made sure I started right there and that built me up enough to, you know, have some type of reviews and ratings.
I'm still trying to sell myself to people. And they're like, who are you? You know, what do I have to look at? More and more, though, they know me before I come to the location like, “Hey, you started a business. I see you got three beautiful daughters. You're a hard working person, you're a man of God.”
So they wanna see that before I come out. So that's what I say, build that foundation for them to build a relationship. They feel like they know you before they know you. So that's the goal.
That took years. I would say at least a solid two years because I had an online presence before the detailing. So I already started and it was a lot of sleepless nights. Sometimes I would work, come home, edit and then go back to work on no sleep. Go back out, do it again, come back, edit a little, fall asleep during the edits, wake up. That's how determined I was, and that's how my drive was.
You gotta have an objective. If I'm gonna charge these cheaper prices, let me get my reviews and ratings. You know what I mean? That's my objective.
This might sound crazy, giving it away for free, just to get their reviews and ratings, just to get that foundation. Sometimes it's a sacrifice. You know what I mean? But if you got to charge lower prices, get something out of it.
And that's the reviews and ratings. I'm big on that. Like Instagram is my thing. Promoting video and Reels may be their thing. But my thing that's worked for me is that foundation of reviews and ratings. And, once I got about 100, and I started hiring people, I paid my employees for reviews. If they got reviews and ratings, I would pay them. They would literally start racking up hundreds of dollars and they were fighting over it. You know what I mean? Like, “This is my review.” That's what actually skyrocketed. My reviews and ratings.
I'm gonna be honest. I actually ride with some guys that are old school, you know, old fashioned. They stopped getting work because we got these new guys coming in that are on all the platforms [website, business profiles, etc.]. I know you guys offer everything [Advanced Placement]. Like you guys put people on all platforms and stuff, and we don't even think about it. I've actually gotten calls from online places I didn’t expect. And I'm like, I don't even know what that is.
So if you don't get on board with that, you will get left behind, because it's growing. Online media is growing and growing every day.
So I would say hire somebody to do it for you. We're so busy that we don't have the time unless you're gonna sacrifice. I was putting in sleepless nights typing in business info and bios. It takes away from your time that you could be doing other stuff within the business. So hire somebody. It may seem like a loss in the beginning, but in the long run, you'll see the benefit from it.
So it's sacrifice and, and taking a chance, business is taking a chance regardless when you get out here, you know.
It’s about relationships and talking to people. I like to get to know people besides just making money from them. If I ask them how their day is, I mean it. You know how some people, I see people in the morning, they walk past you and they're just like, “Hey, how's your day going?” But they're not really looking to know how your day is going. They're just so used to the habit and programmed.
So I would say it's the relationships and sitting and talking with people. That's built my business the most, you know what I mean?
I'm reliving it right now. The wind was blowing kinda like this right here. The canopy takes off and I just remember holding it and my heart just pounding, like, “Please, no!” I couldn't hold the canopy and it just took me and it just starts scratching the car. It was so bad.
But the first thing I thought, how am I going to express this to him? And I hope that he's a loving person. I understand that accidents happen. That was the first thing. I never tried to figure out how I could get away with this. Anytime something breaks or something goes wrong, I let them know, and what's crazy about that situation is it has gotten me more business every time. I say I don't know something or I messed up or I need help in this area. People are like, man, I just love your honesty. I love that. It's real in the video and I'm not just watching somebody that's just talking and I just had you here because of what you stand for. So just being an honest person, if you don't know something saying it. It works out in your favor in the long run.
But he wasn't too happy, bro. He wanted to hurt me. If he wasn't an old man, I think he would have, he would have choked me out. He was so mad. He was like 70-80, and he was very upset. And I prayed with him. He accepted the prayer and stuff.
But I wouldn't take that back, bro. It's a lesson learned. You won't see me out here with a canopy without some weights on it. I tell you that man, but I wouldn't take that back.
People trust me. I have people leave their house to me because they watch my videos and they see how honest I am. I'll get there, and they’ll say, “Hey, here's the keys to my house, refrigerators, open bathrooms over here.” And they'll literally leave me here with their garage door open, “My house is your house.” I don't even know them.
But me just being a man of God, honest, it opens up the doors, bro.
I would say that I see the profit in this business, what I'm doing. But I would say whatever business that you're doing, go to school, do your homework, do some payroll classes, you know, whatever it is you can do to run a business because I got into this business just thinking I was just gonna work and I came to this level to where it's like, I gotta learn all this stuff that I didn't wanna do. So it's just like, what do you wanna do now? Do you wanna hire all the people for these positions? So I would say go to school or Youtube Academy and sit yourself down and learn all this stuff before jumping into it. Because I know some guys that are brains, like, they're smart when it comes to organizing and they pass me, you know what I mean? Because they know how to set everything up.
It's amazing to go through this and experience it, and learn so much. Like licensing and payroll and insurance and all these little things and get knocked up the side of your head and be motivated and encouraged because it's something that you're… You're learning, you know what I mean? You're doing.
So a lot of people think it's just work. But it's a whole lot more behind the scenes. I would say it's like working out. It's like 20-30% the gym, but then you gotta go home and eat right. So it's the same thing with this - 30% is work and then the rest is structuring the business.
I would say that the biggest thing for me is Christ. That's where my love for people comes from because it says love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul, and mind and love your neighbor. So, those are the two commandments that fulfill all the law. So I believe that if it wasn't for Christ being the center of my life that I wouldn't want to be interested in getting to know people.
[My faith] keeps me focused. It keeps me on that straight and narrow path and it helps me to love people, to see people, like, whenever they're in pain, they're in hurt. Like I've actually been out here and people will come out drunk and depressed and suicidal.
And I put that scripture on my van. It's Matthew 6:33 and it says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all things shall be added.” So what they're saying is if you seek his kingdom and what he wants to do his will in his way, everything else will be added to you. So this is what helps keep me sane with business because I don't know it all. I don't have too many people around me that are actually coaching me saying what to do next. I'm out here and there's moments that I could literally lose my mind.
Something that's a blessing could actually be a curse. So because I cast my worries and burdens on the Lord, it actually helps get me through. So when I'm focused on loving people, giving and serving people, it blinds me of all the things that are going on around me. And I could actually stay focused and the Lord, he provides everything I need. He provides the people, he provides the finances, the health, protects my mind and keeps me level-headed.
So I would say that's the center of everything.
